After my graduation from School for Photography in The Hague, I stumbled by coincidence upon the art department from the film Kort Amerikaans. There I discovered what I had always been most passionate about in photography: the staging and furnishing of different situations. Very soon thereafter I became acquainted with all the different facets of Art Direction and Production Design, first as an assistant and now since many years as an independent.

I consider it my most important job to assist a director in telling his story. My preference is to be involved in the process from the beginning and help to bring in ideas. The initial step is always to find the right location, in which I always play a role.

Since 1997 I have been using a 3D CAD program which can be easily interfaced with CGI. It doesn’t matter whether I am making a Lego model for Schiphol Airport by myself or coordinating the stage decor for an American film with 100 assistants, I will always use the same effort and dedication.
